Jeffrey Wright will return as Felix Leiter in Quantum of Solace!
Here’s an excerpt from the official plot synopsis of Quantum of Solace courtesy of 007.com:
On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world’s most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (JOAQUIN COSIO). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land. In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene’s sinister plan and stop his organisation.
As you can see, the CIA has a substantial role in the plot which explains why we’ll see the return of Felix Leiter.
On February 8, Wright talked to FilmStew.com:
Wright will soon be catching up with the Quantum of Solace production in Panama. He’s already shot some scenes as Bond ally Felix Leiter both on location in London and on the sound stages at Pinewood. “We’re pretty deep into it, and there’s some good stuff for me,” hints Wright. “The writers’ strike has impacted us a bit, so it may be that we, as actors, come up with some stuff that is not as of yet written on the page. So there may be some more interesting stuff to come.” And what does Wright make of that unusual, recently announced title? “It’s quite exotic, isn’t it,” he muses. “It’s a reference to one of Ian Fleming’s earlier pieces, I guess. So it’s exotic, but Bond is exotic.”
Many of you have probably been wondering whether Wright’s beard from Casino Royale will be returning in Quantum of Solace. I can confirm that it will be returning! Take a look at it in the screenshot below. This shot was taken from the second video on 007.com and is the only shot of Wright on the Quantum of Solace set that has been released thus far.
