According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adrian Brody and Jeffrey Wright will star in the upcoming biopic, Cadillac Records, for Sony BMG Film. Darnell Martin (Their Eyes Were Watching God) penned the screenplay and is also directing. Andrew Lack and Sofia Sondervan are producing for the 3-year-old specialty label.
“Brody will play Leonard Chess, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer who started the Chicago blues label Chess Records and scoured the South, checking out the blues scenes and selling records from the back of his Cadillac.”
Wright is set to play Muddy Waters in the period piece. The film also stars Beyoncé Knowles (Etta James), Cedric the Entertainer (Willie Dixon), Columbus Short (Little Walter), Emmanuelle Chriqui and Tammy Blanchard.
Production began last month.
