On April 1, FelixLeiter.com reported that Jeffrey Wright was in talks to play Colin Powell in Oliver Stone’s George W. Bush biopic, W. Two days ago, Variety reported that Wright has in fact been cast as General Powell.

Variety also reported that the film’s budget will be under-$30 million with Lionsgate as the distributor and a release date of October 17, three weekends before the November 4 presidential election.

Shooting begins on Monday and will likely finish sometime in June.
