Last week, Famous Monsters of Filmland posted their interview with David Hedison and his fellow co-authors (Diane Kachmar and David Goudsward) of The Fly at Fifty. It hit stores earlier this month and is now available at Amazon.com.

The FMOF interview was supplemented with a review of the book which I highly recommend checking out!

The Fly at 50: The Creation and Legacy of a Classic Science Fiction Film by David Hedison (in collaboration with Diane Kachmar and David Goudsward) is now shipping from Amazon.com.

It’s retailing for $21.95 and has come out just in time for the Chiller Theatre Toy Model and Film Expo in October, where Mr. Hedison will be signing copies of the book for fans.

BearManor Media, the publisher, is also selling the book from their website. They’re selling it for the same price as Amazon.com but their shipping costs are $5 for Priority Mail within the United States and $12 for foreign orders.

Last month, FelixLeiter.com revealed the cover art for The Fly at Fifty: The Creation and Legacy of a Classic Science Fiction Film. Today, we obtained the full jacket art, which includes the back cover art.

Mr. Hedison will be signing copies of The Fly at Fifty at the Chiller Theatre Toy Model and Film Expo in October. He’ll be there along with Brett Halsey from The Return of the Fly and many other actors so mark your calendar if you’re going to be in the New Jersey area later next month!

The cover art for David Hedison’s The Fly at Fifty: The Creation and Legacy of a Classic Science Fiction Film has finally arrived!

It is available for pre-order from BearManor Media and will retail for $19.95. This publisher offers free US domestic shipping for pre-publication orders. The official release date is listed as November but it could be moved forward to October (the month we originally reported).

The Fly at Fifty was written by Diane Kachmar and David Goudsward (in collaboration with David Hedison). I’m really looking forward to reading this book and I recommend pre-ordering now so that you can take advantage of the free US domestic shipping!

David Hedison recently spoke with AMC about The Fly: The Opera, which just debuted in Paris. It’s a great interview but I found the last paragraph particularly interesting:

Hedison is looking forward to attending Cronenberg’s opera when it debuts in Los Angeles this September, and in the mean time, he’s finishing up a book commemorating the movie’s 50th anniversary. His recollections are startlingly precise when you consider the last time he watched the film. “I haven’t seen it since 1958!” claims the actor. “I don’t like watching old films of mine. I just don’t like looking back.” I have a hunch that come September, both horror and opera fans will be grateful that Cronenberg doesn’t feel the same way.

I’ve just been informed that the book will be called The Fly at 50: The Creation and Legacy of a Classic Science Fiction Film and will be published by BearManor Media in October. It was done in collaboration with Diane Kachmar and David Goudsward.
